Heroes & Villains: The Comic Book of Alex Ross

Heroes & Villains is the first museum exhibition celebrating the artwork of Alex Ross, often referred to as “the Norman Rockwell of the comics world.” Heroes & Villains features over 130 paintings, drawings, photographs and sculptures from Ross’s personal collection. Showcasing the strong influence of American illustration and Pop Art on Alex Ross, original works by Andrew Loomis, Lynette Ross, and Andy Warhol are included in the exhibit. This exhibition outlines Ross’s career of redefining comic books and graphic novels for a new generation of followers of Superman, Batman, Spider-Man and other classic comic book superheroes.

Warhol Wallpaper

From the 1960s into the early 1980s, Andy Warhol created wallpaper with images of cows, fish, Mao and others designed by him.  The wallpaper was exhibited alongside Warhol's paintings and prints.  The Warhol Museum refabricates Warhol's wallpaper for Warhol Museum-approved use in art exhibitions.

Silver Clouds

Silver Clouds were created by Warhol, with the assistance of Billy Kluver, for a 1966 exhibition at the Leo Castelli Gallery.  Warhol designed an environment that included one room filled with Silver Clouds - helium-filled balloons which moved with the air currents.  A favorite of visitors to the Warhol Museum, the Silver Clouds are refabricated for Warhol Museum-approved use in art exhibitions.
