Smokey Hormel is one of the world’s most in-demand guitarists whose work can be heard on albums by greats such as Johnny Cash, Beck, Tom Waits, Neil Diamond, John Doe, and Joe Strummer. His Western Swing band Smokey's Roundup plays regularly in the New York City area. He visits the Warhol on a tour supporting his latest release, Smokey’s Secret Family, a collection of African popular dance music from the 50’s and 60’s, which features a stellar band, including Doug Weiselman (Laurie Anderson, Antony and the Johnsons), trombone and tuba player Clark Gayton (Stevie Wonder, Prince, Santana) and Brazilian percussionists Gilmar Gomes (Angelique Kidjo) and Mauro Refosco (David Byrne, Bebel Gilberto).
