The Candy Snatchers directed by Guerdon Trueblood, with Tiffany Bolling, Ben Piazza, Susan Sennett, Brad David, Vince Martorano, Bonnie Boland, Jerry Butts. One of the great 70s movies, The Candy Snatchers convulses with the same “Vietnam-bummer-power” as The Texan Chainsaw Massacre, Last Tango in Paris and Taxi Driver. Ostensibly about a kidnapping that goes badly, and despite its (wonderfully) cheesy mise-en-scene, it swells with karmic, killer truths.
Silent Night, Deadly Night, directed by Charles E. Sellier, Jr. with Lillyan Chauvin, Gilmer McCormick, Toni Nero, Robert Brian Wilson, Britt Leach, Linnea Quigley. The ultimate Christmas sick snicker, Silent Night, Deadly Night, is legit Freudian pathos and a pretty suspenseful slasher flick. Famously pulled off screens when it opened after community reps yeeshed about the story of a tormented boy who grows up a homicidal Santa Claus.
