Join The Warhol for two films screened in glorious 35mm: Manhunter (1986), 119 min., and Invasion of the Flesh Hunters aka Cannibal Apocalypse (1980), 96 mins.
Manhunter, directed by Michael Mann with William Petersen, Kim Greist, Joan Allen, Brian Cox, Dennis Farina, Tom Noonan. Freakishly grand 80s masterpiece based on Thomas Harris’ “Red Dragon,” and considered by many to be deeper and more satisfying than The Silence of the Lambs. Michael Mann designs a blend of chic and forensics, a psychic cop William Peterson get grueled by an extraordinary slayer.
Invasion of the Flesh Hunters aka Cannibal Apocalypse, directed by Antonio Margheriti, with John Saxon, Elizabeth Turner, Giovanni Lombardo Radice, Cinzia De Carolis. Like many Italian exploitations, this film has an overactive visualization attached to all kinds of ridiculous, perverse stuff, with often childishly effective results. Can’t deny the quality plot: pissed-off ‘Deer Hunter’ Nam soldiers bring back a cannibal-zombie disease from the jungle and…it spreads…incurably. Filmed in Atlanta, GA.
