The Allegheny County Airport Authority has selected The Andy Warhol Museum to host a special exhibition at Pittsburgh International Airport during the Pittsburgh G-20 Summit. Beginning September 1, 2009, Warhol’s artwork, photography, and objects relating to his world travels and international point of view will greet visitors arriving in late September for the G-20 meeting.
The World of Warhol exhibition includes a number of Warhol’s ex-edition prints, including images of Queen Elizabeth, Alexander the Great, Jimmy Carter, Italy’s Mt. Vesuvius and Cologne Cathedral in Germany. Photographs on display feature images of Warhol’s personal travels to G-20 countries, including Japan, China, France, Italy, and the United Kingdom.
Also on display will be a life-sized mannequin of Andy Warhol, and an installation of Warhol’s famous, brightly-colored Cow wallpaper. The World of Warhol will be exhibited on the landside terminal’s ticketing level and in concourses C and D in the airside terminal until January 8, 2010.
The exhibition is curated by The Warhol’s Eric C. Shiner, Milton Fine Curator of Art and Matt Wrbican, Archivist.
