Learning Lab: Independent Teacher Advisors
Education department staff and an advisory team of teachers develop resource materials, such as: slide sets, posters, and lesson plans. This advisory team also reviews and contributes to the museum's newsletter for teachers, Education News. Teacher advisors work either independently or with other teachers in "Learning Labs" that are organized around specific themes in the arts and humanities, as well as state and national academic standards. Local, national, or international teachers who are interested in being part of the Warhol's Learning Labs may do so by submitting a proposal outlining their intent.

2005-06 Learning Labs
Aesthetics
The Aesthetics Learning Lab has been working to test resource materials about beauty and value in art. New lesson plans and school projects focused on teaching Aesthetics will be added in the Critical Thinking section of this website in the spring.
2003-04 Learning Labs
Major Themes in Portraiture:
From the Pharaohs to the Factory
This learning lab will test and evaluate the Warhol's Portraiture curriculum unit. This unit includes a historical overview of portraiture, its major themes and lessons on Andy Warhol's commissioned and iconic portraits. Other lessons explore themes of identity, gender stereotypes and physiognomy.
The Many Voices of History:
The Historian, Journalist, Artist, and Observer
The Fall 2003 edition of Education News will focus on the upcoming exhibition Warhol and Jackie: Crafting the End of Camelot, presented in collaboration with The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, Dallas, Texas. This learning lab will test and evaluate lessons that compare and contrast the roles of historians, journalists, artists, and observers in the "telling" of history. Students will be challenged to answer the question "How do we know history?", while taking a critical look at the events surrounding John F. Kennedy's assassination.
2002-2003 Learning Labs
Critical Response
Teacher advisors assessed the Fall 2002 edition of Education News and the unit on critical response. Teachers worked together with Warhol staff to test the lessons and activities in Education News then assessed the unit's effectiveness as a learning model. Their results and adaptations will be published on this site next year.
