The 2012 Fall Teacher Open House featured special previews of two new exhibitions; Warhol Headlines which focused on Andy Warhol’s lifelong obsession with the sensational side of contemporary news media and Deborah Kass: Before and Happily Ever After, a retrospective in which Kass presented playful quips on iconic artworks and pop culture, addressing themes of history, power, gender and ethnicity. The event also included lectures, gallery talks, art making activities, and classroom resources. Teachers in attendance received Act 48 credit hours and Requests for Proposals for a free tour or workshop for their students.

Participants at the 2011 Teacher Open House viewed the exhibition Heroes & Villians: The Comic Book Art of Alex Ross. Just as Andy Warhol elevated soup can labels into multi-million dollar artworks, Ross transformed comic books by revitalizing classic superheroes into works of fine art through his brilliant use of watercolor. Teachers tested out lesson plan ideas like pop paper dolls and comic book silkscreens as well as created their own digital artwork using The Warhol's new digital silkscreening app called DIY POP. Requests for proposals were given out to teachers for tours, workshops and outreaches, exploring current and upcoming exhibitions at The Warhol.

Participants of the 2010 Teacher Open House got a sneak peek of the exhibition Marilyn Monroe: Life as a Legend. The exhibition celebrated the many sides of the 1950s glamour goddess with more than 300 works by international artists; capturing Marilyn’s rise to stardom from fashion photography to Pop Art. Plus a special presentation on Warhol’s Hollywood by Geralyn Huxley, Curator of Film and Video at The Warhol. Proposals were given out to teachers to request tours, workshops and artist in school partnerships to explore film and video in their classrooms.

The 2009 Teacher Open House explored contemporary artists’ interpretations of portraiture. Participants viewed The Mattress Factory’s exhibition, Likeness as well as their new permanent installation, It's All About ME Not You, by Greer Lankton, then explored nontraditional materials to create self-portraits. Through gallery talks and activities at The Warhol, teachers compared and contrasted the use of reproduction and appropriation found in the portraits of both Warhol and Shepard Fairey. Lectures were given by Eric Shiner: The Milton Fine Curator of Art at The Andy Warhol Museum and by Elaine King: Curator of The Mattress Factory’s Likeness exhibition. The evening concluded with a critique and discussion on how to extrapolate both museum experiences into lessons for the classroom.
