Teens take over The Andy Warhol Museum! This multi-faceted program features teens' unique take on Andy Warhol and their creative expressions infusing and energizing the entire museum—its programming, interpretation, and display.
Highlights of the program are:
- Fashion show
- Various performances
- Visiting artists
- Art making
- Dance party with DJ
- Refreshments
There are a number of ways you can get involved:
1. Apply to become a member of the Advisory Committee
- Applications are due on Friday February 1, 2013
- Space is limited to 12 teens
- Meet on a weekly basis (Thursdays 5-7pm) at The Andy Warhol Museum
- Work as part of a team to plan all aspects of the event
2. Apply to attend the Fashion Workshops
- Applications are due on Friday February 1, 2013
- Space is limited to 15 teens
- Meet on a weekly basis (Wednesdays 5-7pm) at The Andy Warhol Museum
- Learn how to design and create a unique garment from start to finish
- Prior experience is not needed, but you must have an interest in fashion design and sewing
3. Submit a garment for the Fashion Show open submissions
- Create a unique garment 100% on your own
- Submit a high quality colored photo and application by Monday April 15, 2013
- If accepted, you must attend the fashion show rehearsals
4. Submit a digital work of art for the Digital Art Open Submissions
- Submissions are due by Friday April, 19, 2013
- Work must include an artist statement
- Submissions should have themes consistent with the work of Andy Warhol, such as popular culture, the mass media or experimentation
- Work should reflect the artist’s own interests and personal interpretation of Andy Warhol’s body of work and philosophy
- We are NOT looking for work that directly copies or quotes Andy Warhol’s work
