Past Event Sound Series: An Evening with Buffalo Nichols

Buffalo Nicols plays black guitar while facing sideways.

We welcome the acclaimed guitarist and songwriter Buffalo Nichols (aka Carl Nichols) for a solo performance in the museum’s intimate theater. Looking to bring the blues of the past into the future, Nichols, who has also studied punk, West African music, and Ukrainian folk, has recently released his self-titled debut album on Fat Possum Records, the label’s first solo blues signing in almost 20 years. As Nichols explains, “Part of my intent, making myself more comfortable with this release, is putting more Black stories into the genres of folk and blues.”

  • Buffalo Nichols performance begins at 8 p.m.
  • Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
