Oct. 6: During the mid-sixties, Andy Warhol filmed more than five hundred four-minute black-and-white screen tests at the Factory. These short films (the length of a reel of film projected in slow motion) captured Lou Reed, Edie Sedgwick, Salvador Dali, and other notables along with numerous unknown, aspiring actors. The films reveal mostly stationary subjects occasionally making small gestures, and they have a mysterious, engaging quality.
