DESCRIPTION:Explore Andy Warhol’s use of silver and gold throughout his career\, from his gold Marilyns and Jackies to Elvis on the silver screen. Practice Warhol’s technique of gold leafing\, found in the embellishment of his much-loved holiday cards and illustrations from the 1950s. Experiment with rubber stamping\, blotted-line\, and silkscreen printing to create holiday cards and wrapping paper. ACT 48 credit will be available for this workshop. Examine how Warhol combined drawing with basic printmaking techniques to create a variety of illustrations along a similar theme. Participants will learn how to use Warhol’s early commercial illustration techniques such as rubber stamping\, blotted line\, and marbleizing in the classroom to teach students about reproduction\, repetition\, and making multiples. DESCRIPTION:This event has been canceled.\nThe Warhol hosts a teacher workshop to coincide with the exhibition Pearlstein\, Warhol\, Cantor: From Pittsburgh to New York. This exhibition is the first to explore the work of Philip Pearlstein\, Andy Warhol\, and Dorothy Cantor as students at Carnegie Tech (now Carnegie Mellon University)\, and as young artists breaking into the New York Art World in the early 1950s. \nThrough hands-on studio and silkscreening projects\, teachers explore the path that all three artists took from their early Pittsburgh roots to their ambitious start in New York. \nThree ACT 48 Credit hours are available to teachers.

Teachers explore Kent’s rich and varied career as a designer\, teacher\, feminist\, and activist for civil rights and anti-war causes.
