DESCRIPTION:We welcome the Bristol-based Tara Clerkin Trio\, on a tour supporting their 2023 EP\, On the Turning Ground\, released on the U.K. record label\, World of Echo. Since Clerkin formed the experimental trio with Patrick Benjamin and Sunny-Joe Paradisos in 2020\, they have been cultivating their unique hybrid aesthetic that combines elements of folk\, dub\, and psychedelia\, as part of Bristol’s underground music scene. In a review in The Wire\, the band is described sonically as\, “Drifting from dubby minimalism to smudged acid jazz\, Tara’s stark and tuneful voice acts as the vehicle for her concise poetic lyricism. The group coalesce disparate influences into a cohesive sound\, reflecting a romantic view of a familiar world.” They visit the intimate Warhol theater just after their appearance at the acclaimed Big Ears Festival in Knoxville\, Tennessee. DESCRIPTION:Put on your most comfortable party outfit and join our welcoming staff for a sensory friendly evening of dancing\, socializing\, and artmaking. This event is planned specifically to support the enjoyment of individuals with autism spectrum disorders and those with sensory sensitivities. A live DJ will spin dance classics and our adjustable wireless headphones allow participants to choose their own volume levels or opt out. There will be an enclosed sensory friendly area on the first floor where partygoers can decompress or connect in a calm manner. The underground studio will be open for guests to enjoy silkscreen printing and other art projects. Kiah is also a member of Our Native Daughters (an all-women-of-color supergroup also featuring Rhiannon Giddens\, Leyla McCalla\, and Allison Russell)\, who released Songs of Our Native Daughters on Smithsonian Folkways in 2019. DESCRIPTION:Learn to build and blend your own remixes that will get everyone on the dance floor! Presented in partnership with Tech 25\, the Teen DJ Academy is a 12-week workshop series taught by professional live and touring DJs. Participants will get hands-on experience with pro gear and perform at Youth Invasion and LGBTQ+ Prom. Participants must be ages 13–18 and must attend a minimum of nine workshops in order to perform. This program is free and participants will earn a stipend for the 12 week program plus an additional stipend per performance. Space is limited.

DESCRIPTION:We welcome back West African Tuareg guitarist\, Mdou Moctar\, and his band who are originally from Agadez\, a desert village in rural Niger. They join us on a tour supporting their latest release Tears of Injustice\, a re-recorded version of their critically praised record\, Funeral for Justice\, re-arranged for acoustic and traditional instruments. According to the band’s U.S.-based bassist and producer\, Mikey Coltun\, in a recent interview in Stereogum\,“there’s a whole other side of the band that comes out when we play a stripped-down set.“ With this latest release out in February on Matador Records\, the band continues to reflect their unique blend of contemporary Saharan music and Western rock music structures and guitar techniques. Their debut collaborative album\, Pigments (Merge Records) tells the story of finding one’s self through dance\, self-expression\, and community. DESCRIPTION:We welcome songwriter and guitarist\, Jake Xerxes Fussell\, who has distinguished himself as one of his generation’s preeminent interpreters of traditional (and not so traditional) “folk” songs. By recontextualizing ancient vernacular songs and sources of the American South\, he allows them to breathe and speak for themselves and for himself; he alternately inhabits them and allows them to inhabit him. His latest album\, When I’m Called (Fat Possum Records) was produced by James Elkington and mixed by Tucker Martine. In addition to Elkington\, it features the playing of Ben Whiteley (The Weather Station)\, Joe Westerlund (Bon Iver\, Califone)\, and others. Blake Mills contributes guitars on several tracks. Joan Shelley and Robin Holcomb provide backing vocals. A rebellious art student at Carnegie Tech\, eighteen year old Andrew Warhola (later known as Andy Warhol)\, finds himself unexpectedly in the basement of a working class bar owned by Mario “Bones” Bonino\, a second generation Italian American from McKeesport. Over the course of the summer\, Andy and Bones form an unlikely friendship that surprises them both.  \nEnjoying critically acclaimed productions in Los Angeles and Chicago\, this tender and beautiful play examines the war between the urban-LGBTQ+ lifestyle and Pittsburgh’s blue collar sensibilities\, reminding us that division can be bridged by our fundamental need to create. Featuring Johnny Patalano as Mario Bonino and Matt Henderson as Andy Warhol. \nVince Melocchi\, playwright\, was born and raised in McKeesport. She has been an artistic director for five companies in New York\, Los Angeles\, and Portland and has directed\, taught\, and acted in theatre internationally and regionally around the country. She works in film\, television\, and theater.  \nMatt Henderson (Andy Warhol)\, returns to PICT after appearing in their productions of The Old Curiosity Shop\, Romeo & Juliet\, and The Lion in Winter. His most recent roles were in Angels in America with Elsewhere Theatre Company and in Witness for The Prosecution at Prime Stage. He has appeared in many theatre productions in Pittsburgh as well as film and TV. \nJohnny Patalano (Mario Bonino) made his Pittsburgh theater debut more than twenty years ago as Tony in Tony ‘N Tina’s Wedding in Station Square. DESCRIPTION:We welcome back singer-songwriter\, Waxahatchee (aka Katie Crutchfield)\, from her solo performance at the museum in 2018\, this time with a full band at the Carnegie Music Hall\, on a tour supporting her latest album\, Tigers Blood. Having released six critically acclaimed albums since 2012\, Crutchfield’s aesthetic evolved into more reflective alt-country with 2020’s Saint Cloud\, released on Merge Records\, which appeared on several best of lists including Stereogum and Fader. In 2022\, Waxahatchee provided the soundtrack to the animated television series El Deafo. Singer-songwriter\, Tré Burt\, opens the evening. \n\n­­Doors open at 7 p.m.
