Youth Invasion 2019 Artist Application

Submit your artwork and you could be part of our Youth Art Exhibition, a visual exploration of identity and representation, presented by our Youth Arts Council in Spring 2019.

Throughout his career, Andy Warhol both embraced and challenged traditional ideas about portraiture. In the age of selfies, reality TV, and surveillance, how do we represent ourselves and others in art? We invite all Pittsburgh-area teens to submit original “portraiture” in any medium that explores ideas about self, identity, lived experience, community, and culture. Works submitted will be reviewed and curated by teens on our Youth Arts Council based on creativity, technique, and theme.

Students may submit more than one artwork but must complete a separate application for each entry. However, artworks that are presented as a series of multiple pieces only need a single application.

Interested teens should fill out and submit the online application, and include images of their work, by Monday, January 14, 2019 at 5 p.m. Space is limited.

If accepted, artwork must be delivered to the museum by Friday March 8, 2019 at 5 p.m. We will be in contact with each artist to schedule a delivery date and time once notifications are released.
