This year’s theme\, “Night of 1\,000 Marilyns\,” invites you to dress up as your favorite Hollywood silver screen star\, like Marilyn Monroe\, Clark Gable\, Marlene Dietrich\, Jimmy Stewart\, or Greta Garbo. Our seven floors are open to explore\, and spaces are activated with a DJ\, dancing\, and a VIP lounge. The evening features a DJ set by Title Town\, and a late-night drag show featuring Bambi Deerest\, among others. Glam yourself up with Cardamone’s Salon free hair and makeup styling. This is the closing event for the exhibition Andy Warhol: Stars of the Silver Screen\, which closes September 24\, 2017. \n8 p.m.–12 a.m. – VIP and general admission\n10 p.m.–12 a.m. – Late-night admission \nVIP tickets ($200) include access to the VIP lounge\, unlimited drinks\, and hors d’oeuvres. Get the celebrity treatment in the VIP lounge with food\, casino games\, and portraits by caricature artist Jeffrey Harris. General admission tickets ($50/$45 members) include one drink ticket and hors d’oeuvres. Late-night tickets ($25) include dessert. Cash bars are available. Wigs\, glasses\, and other iconic Warhol- and Marilyn-themed items are available for purchase in The Warhol Store. \nTickets must be purchased in advance; no tickets will be sold at the door. \nFree parking is available in The Warhol lot.

SUMMARY:Sensory-Friendly Autism Acceptance Disco
DESCRIPTION:The Andy Warhol Museum is proud to present a sensory-friendly celebration as part of autism awareness and acceptance month. Join us at the museum for a silent disco experience designed specifically for individuals with autism spectrum disorders and those with sensory sensitivities. DJ Naeem will spin a live set of dance classics. Rather than playing loud music through speakers\, wireless headphones allow attendees to opt in or out of the soundtrack and control their own volume levels. \nThe museum’s underground studio The Factory is transformed into an enclosed sensory room for the evening\, and quiet areas are provided. Guests are encouraged to wear comfortable\, festive attire and to take portraits in the museum’s photobooth. Light refreshments are provided\, and a cash bar is available. \nWe welcome teens and their families to join us from 6–8 p.m. for an all ages silent disco dance party and film screening.  Each registered teen receives a free adult ticket for a parent or supportive adult to attend with them. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend and are welcome to participate. A parent networking and waiting area is provided for families to relax and connect with other members of their community during the event. \nThis event is open to teens and their families from 6–8 p.m.\, and it is 18+ after 8 p.m. \nSchedule \n\n6–6:45 p.m.        All ages silent disco\n6:45–7:30 p.m.  Vectors of Autism screening in The Warhol theater\n7:45–8 p.m.        Transition time (all ages event ends)\n8–10 p.m.            18+ silent disco\n\nFree parking is available in The Warhol lot.

SUMMARY:My Perfect Body: James Elkins lecture
DESCRIPTION:In conjunction with the exhibition Andy Warhol: My Perfect Body\, James Elkins speaks about the limits of the representation of the body in contemporary and postmodern art\, with reference to Andy Warhol’s work. Building on the arguments that he established in his seminal text Pictures of the Body: Pain & Metamorphosis\, Elkins makes the case that Warhol’s work is a model for problems of abstraction and body image. A Q&A led by Jessica Beck\, The Warhol’s associate curator of art\, follows. This program serves as a closing event for the exhibition Andy Warhol: My Perfect Body. \nJames Elkins is chair of the department of art history\, theory\, and criticism at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago\, as well as chair of the department of art history at University College Cork in Ireland. Eklins’s writing focuses on the history and theory of images in art\, science\, and nature. Some of his books are exclusively on fine art (What Painting Is\, Why Are Our Pictures Puzzles?)\, others include scientific and non-art images\, writing systems\, and archaeology (The Domain of Images\, On Pictures and the Words That Fail Them)\, and some are about natural history (How to Use Your Eyes). His most recent books are What Photography Is\, written against Roland Barthes’s Camera Lucida\, and Art Critiques: A Guide.

DESCRIPTION:In conjunction with the exhibition Andy Warhol: My Perfect Body\, Douglas Crimp reads from his 2016 memoir Before Pictures\, which tells the story of Crimp’s life as a young gay man and art critic in New York City during the late 1960s through the turbulent 1970s. The details of his professional and personal life are interwoven in this history of New York City at that time\, producing a vivid portrait of both the critic and his adopted city. \nFollowing the reading Jessica Beck\, The Warhol’s associate curator of art\, leads a Q&A focusing on the points of intersection between Crimp’s latest book\, research\, and the themes of the exhibition Andy Warhol: My Perfect Body. \nA book signing in The Warhol Store follows the event. \nDouglas Crimp is Fanny Knapp Allen professor of art history at the University of Rochester and the author of On the Museum’s Ruins\, 1993; Melancholia and Moralism: Essays on AIDS and Queer Politics\, 2002; “Our Kind of Movie”: The Films of Andy Warhol\, 2012; and Before Pictures\, 2016. He was the curator of the Pictures exhibition at Artists Space\, New York\, in 1977 and\, from 1977 to 1990\, an editor of the journal October\, for which he edited the special issue AIDS: Cultural Analysis/Cultural Activism in 1987. DESCRIPTION:The Warhol partners with Japan-America Society of Pennsylvania and The Asian Studies Center of the University of Pittsburgh to welcome experimental theater artist and dancer Takao Kawaguchi with his solo performance tribute to legendary Japanese butoh dancer Kazuo Ohno\, who passed away in 2010 at age 103. Kawaguchi mirrors and re-constructs Ohno’s movements based on video recordings of performances of early masterpieces including Admiring La Argentina (1977)\, My Mother (1981)\, and Dead Sea\, Ghost\, Wienerwaltz (1985). Kawaguchi is also a former member of the Japanese performance collective\, Dumb Type\, and is former director the Tokyo International Lesbian and Gay Film Festival. \nThis seven-city tour of Takao Kawaguchi’s About Kazuo Ohno is produced and organized by Japan Society\, New York and supported by The Japan Foundation Performing Arts JAPAN Program and the Agency for Cultural Affairs\, Government of Japan in the fiscal year 2016.
