A publication series that explores the people and work of Andy Warhol’s career.

Andy Warhol began making art in his youth and continued at a feverish pace until his death in 1987. Exploring and experimenting with different mediums, styles, and uses of technology, his work constantly evolved, incorporating influences and input from the people and environments around him. Highly guarded about his personal life, Warhol telegraphed a famously aloof public persona, resulting in a strategic ambiguity about his life and, by extension, the massive body of work he left behind. Warhol’s Index aims to—through examining his art and film work, the trove of archival material, and his Time Capsules—trace the path of the artist’s career while shedding light on the personalities Warhol engaged with along the way.
