WHO: Pittsburgh area teens, ages 15–18

WHAT: Go behind the scenes at the museum, meet professional artists, connect with the Pittsburgh art community, expand your network, learn about silkscreen printing and more!

WHEN: Weekly meetings will be every Thursday, 4–6 p.m., starting on October 16, 2025 through May 14, 2026. YAC will not meet on holidays or Pittsburgh public school winter and spring break. Full program calendar will be made available.

WHERE: The Andy Warhol Museum, 117 Sandusky Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15212. Transportation support is available in the form of bus tickets.

WHY: Over the course of the school year, the program aims to expose students to a variety of opportunities that fall under one or more of our core values that will empower them to succeed in a changing world:

YAC participants are compensated for their participation with a stipend.

HOW: Submit application by Thursday, October 3, 2025. After receiving your submission, we will review all applications and contact you with more information before our first meeting on Thursday, October 16.

While work samples are not required, we welcome submissions of artwork, writing, or other examples of creative projects you feel represent you. Please share images or a link to your Dropbox or Google Drive with teens@warhol.org. Make sure to label all files with your first and last name.

About the exhibition

Good Business: Andy Warhol’s Screenprints examines why screenprints are an essential part of Warhol’s body of work. Facilitating experimentation and mass distribution, prints can be simultaneously challenging and accessible.

Warhol embraced mechanical processes early in his career and found in screenprinting the perfect vehicle for image repetition, both for his works on canvas and for portfolios of prints on paper. Through collaborations with his studio assistants and established print publishers, Warhol generated nearly 20,000 prints throughout his career. Screenprinting techniques allowed Warhol to create series of images in an assortment of color variations, resulting in one of his most recognizable signatures (the same image rendered in different colorways), while the ability to generate editions of prints on paper enabled collectors to acquire masterworks at (relatively) affordable prices. The salability of prints generated income that Warhol could use to fund his more avant-garde projects, as well as raise funds for causes that were personally important to him.

Good Business: Andy Warhol’s Screenprints provides insight into the screenprinting process and highlights how Warhol used this technique to explore familiar themes throughout his career. Warhol was many things—a painter, photographer, film director, entrepreneur, and commercial artist. Printmaker is a critical part of that extensive resume.

DIY Warhol is an innovative web app that invites users to create digital silkscreen prints inspired by Andy Warhol’s artistic process. This interactive web-based experience guides users step-by-step through cropping, exposing, underpainting and virtually pulling a silkscreen to achieve a Warhol-esque Pop Art aesthetic. When finished, users can download and share their creations.

In addition to the print-making feature, DIY Warhol offers video tutorials, extended text and links to further educational resources, allowing users to explore the silkscreen printing process from beginning to end.
