Ben Opie

The Pittsburgh-based composer and multi-instrumentalist, Ben Opie, was kind enough to take a moment at home to record this session for us, featuring two pieces of distinctly different tone and mood. The first, Yellow Phase, is from his suite Meditations on Quarantine, composed mostly during the earlier months of the COVID-19 lockdown. The second, Postupano Oro, is a traditional Balkan dance piece that is part of the repertoire of a trio he has been performing with that has been practicing Balkan dances in the park during the pandemic.

Ben Opie performs “Yellow Phase” from his suite Meditations on Quarantine and a traditional Balkan dance piece dubbed “Postupano Oro” in this special “at home” Silver Studio Session.
