Join us for a public conversation featuring artists Carlos Mare and Michael Walsh and moderated by Chris McGinnis, director and chief curator of Rivers of Steel Arts. Mare and Walsh are artists-in-residence at Rivers of Steel Arts in a week-long residency and workshop that explores the intersectionality of graffiti and metal arts. The residency’s scope also considers the connections with residents of the adjacent Monongahela Valley communities—communities whose character has been shaped by both their industrial and post-industrial heritage. In this artist talk, Mare and Walsh, two pioneers of the graffiti sculpture movement, will share their experiences in the residency and reflect on the national graffiti sculpture movement and history.

  • Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
