Upcoming Event Sound Series: Patrick Higgins

A collage of two black and white photographs of the same person standing wearing a coat with the hoodie up around the back of their head on top of a canvas of white, gray, and orange colors.

We welcome guitarist, composer, and producer, Patrick Higgins, for a solo performance in the museum’s intimate theater. Known for his work in experimental and contemporary classical music, “Higgins composes with a scholar’s historical perspective and a punk’s sense of abandon” (Pitchfork). His work bridges genres and traditions including baroque chamber music, contemporary noise, and 20th century minimalism and has been performed in over 25 countries internationally at venues and festivals including SFMOMA, Unsound Festival (Poland), Monom Berlin, Sony Ginza Park (Tokyo), and ReWire (Holland). Higgins‘ forthcoming album planned for release in early spring on Nicolas Jaar’s Other People label, marks a new direction and development of acclaimed work as a guitarist and composer, drawing on electronic music, free improvisation, and avant-garde modern composition.
