Art of the Deal: When Trump Rejected a Portrait by Warhol

As he writes in his diaries, Warhol met Donald and Ivanka Trump on several occasions in the early and mid-1980s. But it wasn't until commissioned to do a portrait of Trump Tower that Warhol got a taste of how the future American president conducted business.

Warhol's Visit to 'Fighter's Heaven,' Muhammad Ali's Training Camp

In August of 1977—after a lecture tour of thirteen European cities and before a tough fight against Earnie Shavers—Ali had a memorable encounter with another pop icon, Andy Warhol.

A Brief and Personal History of Warhol and Bowie

In 2016 Matt Wrbican, longtime archivist at The Andy Warhol Museum, reflected on the relationship between Andy Warhol and David Bowie. He even recalls his own encounter with the Thin White Duke, who referred to Wrbican as "that Warhol bloke."

Silver Studio Session: Kevin Morby

This session is from September of last year, when Kevin joined us in our intimate theater for a sold-out duo performance with saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist, Cochemea Gastelum. We happened to wrap up recording just before a Pirates game started across the street. I have the unique and classic memory of Cochemea spontaneously breaking into "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" on sax, as we walked back to the museum.

Brillo: Is It Art?

Develop tools to respond critically to challenging works of art and appreciate multiple viewpoints.

This artwork is a recreation of a cardboard Brillo soap pads box using silkscreen ink and house paint on plywood. The box is white with navy blue and red lettering. The blue caption on the front side top of the box reads 24 Giant Size Pkgs.”, while the bottom caption reads “Shines Aluminum Fast. Andy Warhol's Blotted Line

Learn Andy Warhol's blotted line process by combining drawing with basic printmaking skills.

With the tracing paper attached to a piece of watercolor paper, a student uses a paintbrush to apply ink to the image of a shoe that they have drawn on the tracing paper.
